With the number of adults in the United States age 65 years and older projected to double to over 70 million by 2030, a public health approach has become an increasingly important component of the effort to ensure good health and high quality of life for aging Americans. The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD), in collaboration with the National Association of State Units on Aging (NASUA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Administration on Aging (AoA), is working to develop the tools and expertise required to effectively address healthy aging from within state and territorial health departments. http://www.chronicdisease.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3317

programs enhance their health promotion and disease prevention services:
